Grieving – A Reminder to Connect

Adventures in Awareness  Issue #7 - 2016

“The marvelous richness of human experience would lose something of rewarding joy if there were no limitations to overcome. The hilltop hour would not be half so wonderful if there were no dark valleys to traverse.” - Helen Keller, American author, political activist, and lecturer (27 Jun 1880-1 Jun 1968)

Grieving

A Reminder to Connect

Our little family is in the process of healing from the recent passing of Sebastian, our beloved canine ‘child’ who, for almost 15 years, was a kind and loving friend to each of us. We all were nourished by his joyous and playful spirit, and looked forward to his enthusiastic welcome any time we came home, whether we had been gone 5 minutes or 5 days. We’re now beginning to be able to talk about him - most of the time - with fond memories and smiles rather than sadness and tears.

While this time has been a challenging and painful one on many levels, it has provided a space in which I’ve been reflecting on the preciousness of the time we have each day to engage in our life and relationships. At this point, whenever I feel the presence of Sebastian in our home [which is often] I take it as a reminder to give my time and attention to those I love. Perhaps my heart needed this visceral opening as a reminder to regularly set aside my tech toys, books and TV, and engage more fully with my friends, family and community. It’s also been a reminder to prioritize my own self-care and healing time.

While I will always miss our little Sebastian, his memory and spirit will continue to guide and inspire me to remember that each day and each person in it is a priceless gift never to be taken for granted.

CONTINUING THIS ADVENTURE INTO AWARENESS

I invite you to consider the following question and, as you do, simply notice what new awareness emerges from within you.

Who are the ones in my life that deserve more of my time and attention and how might I consistently remember to give my attention to them?

And please remember to have FUN on that awareness adventure into the question, okay?

Happy exploring!

THE ENERGY SOUP REPORT

Since we’re inextricably interconnected to each other, to our planet, and to our universe, below are some of the energies we’re all swimming in together right now.

FULL Moon - Tuesday, July 19th 3:58 PM [Pacific Daylight Time] ~ All full moons shed light on what has been in the shadows, and challenge us to integrate two seemingly opposite energies and areas of life and also illuminate the truth, including the consequences of our choices.

The Power Path ~ Work with the earth during this full moon. It is a time to ground and anchor new truth, new personal practices, new intentions, new resolutions, new relationships and new ideas. If you are still operating out of old structures, they may take the opportunity to self-destruct. In fact, this full moon could bring in a time of witnessing the self-destruction of old outdated structures. On the other hand, it can also bring in a new frequency of energy that invites us all to play in that higher emotional center. It is a time when all those snippets of inspiration and exciting new ideas can be anchored into a more grounded reality. The key will be balance; focus on balance, especially balancing time for yourself and self-care with what you put out for others. What you gift yourself during this time will truly nurture you at a deep physical level. Focus on love - for yourself and others.

Stephanie Austin, EcoAstrology ~ The next full moon, which peaks on July 19th at 28 degrees Capricorn-Cancer, highlights the importance of balancing personal needs with maturity, freedom with responsibility…In essence, the theme for this full moon is emotional responsibility. As a water sign, Cancer immerses us in the complexities of feelings and needs, kinship, and belonging. As an earth sign, Capricorn compels us to master the constraints of physical reality and the tests of personal power. When integrated, we have emotional intelligence - the ability to witness, code, and act on the information our feelings provide, in ways that honor both our needs and the rights of others.

Madeline Gerwick, Business Astrologer, Polaris Business Guides ~ What’s coming to light at this Full Moon is that both leaders and the public are dealing with some unexpected, radical, or perhaps fundamental changes…Something big could be up for the East Coast, which could be major weather or earth changes. Or perhaps it’s political changes…the Republican Convention is right in the midst of this Full Moon…also has a cycle associated with volatile, and unexpected adjustments…the good news is we have some very structured, calm, gracious and conservative communications. This is especially helpful for logistical planning and putting forth your most professional self. This will hopefully calm down some of the rough energies.

Cosmic*Intelligence*Agency ~ …This full Capricorn moon spotlights the unconscious and squares up to the agent of change, Uranus: transformation can come about through surprising new means. By letting go of the obsessive need to control (others or even oneself, and noting that discipline is not the same as control), developing trust in those tell-tale gut-instincts can now help get closer to one’s essential self and stay on center…In short, this moon is for surveying old walls as well as creating careful new markers for future reference - all of which is subject to change.

Jun 27-Jul 24 is the “Cosmic Moon of Presence” according to the Galactic Calendar –   its energies are ENDURE-TRANSCEND-PRESENCE; its Totem Animal is TURTLE. “In simply being, you are the synchronicity of the universe.“ ~ Deepak Chopra

July Theme - “Transformation

The Power Path - Lena & Jose Stevens:  Radical, sudden, emotional, excruciating, higher centered, painful, ecstatic TRANSFORMATION. And, it’s all about LOVE. July is a 2-act play. In the first act, the first two weeks, you are likely to get a tour of your emotions, fears and all the attachments that are in the way of this transformation. The second act begins on the 16th and brings love, compassion and a higher emotional centered energy to everything, anchoring this TRANSFORMATION through beauty and love. Read more…

Ongoing ENERGY SOUP

Mars Retrograde –  Jun 26-Aug 27, 2016 - Stephanie Austin, EcoAstrology - While retrograde in Sagittarius, Mars summons us to re-examine our most fundamental assumptions, question our strategies, and realign with our higher Self. Are we living our life purpose? Are we walking our talk? Where do we need to take a leap of faith?

Venus-Mercury-Sun in Cancer Grand Trine - Jun 30-Jul 22, 2016 - Stephanie Austin, EcoAstrology - From June 30 to July 22, first Venus, then Mercury, and the Sun in Cancer form a grand trine with Mars in Scorpio and Chiron in Pisces, making it easier for us to open our heart, clear up misunderstandings, and close old wounds. Trines put the wind at our back; we can go far, but only if we raise our sails, so allowing extra time for quiet contemplation and healing interactions is especially beneficial through much of July.

Saturn-Neptune Squares –  Sep 10, 2016 - Stephanie Austin, EcoAstrology - This Saturn–Neptune square is part of a larger synodic cycle of 36 years. Squares mark important turning points; these are waning squares, considered by Dane Rudhyar ‘a crisis in consciousness,’ where we must re-orient ourselves and release forms which no longer support our growth…Saturn–Neptune squares challenge us to manifest from our essence rather than our ego, and to follow our intuition and inner guidance rather than external authority and convention. We are summoned to spiritual maturity, which entails letting go of martyrdom and victim mentality, blame and guilt, addictions and illusions. By making more time and space in our lives to connect with our higher self, we are able to see where we have been in denial, where we have abdicated our power, and how we can instead live with both integrity and vision, pragmatism and faith. As we engage more with nature, meditation, and the wisdom of our heart, we see through the fears and beliefs that block us from embodying our truth…

Some ways to work with this ongoing Saturn-Neptune square
    •    Simplify. Less can be more—more time, less hassle.
    •    Prioritize. A powerful mantra: What is most important in this moment?
    •    Set realistic goals. Make reminders of what is most important to you.
    •    Listen to your body. Aches, pains, illness are are messages that we need to make a change.
    •    Pay attention to your dreams. Both day and night dreams provide valuable pointers.
    •    Give yourself daily soul time. Meditate, do art, play music, dance, journal, walk, etc.
    •    Be completely honest. Tell the truth always, with compassion for all concerned.
    •    “Practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty” (Anne Herbert)
    •    Be in gratitude. Thankfulness opens the heart and the way for more blessings to come.
    •    And most importantly: “Practice responding to every emotion or thought of fear, anger, resistance, shame, judgement, excitement, or whatever with one word–“interesting”, asking yourselves; “What am I believing that is making me feel this way, is it true?

Adventures in Awareness  Issue #6

If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. - Maya Angelou, poet, civil rights activist, and memoirist (4 Apr 1928-28 May 2014)

With five planets in various stages of retrograde and a New Moon [see ‘Energy Soup’ reports below], I’m sensing that this signifies a time to slow wa-a-a-ay down, rethink and then create anew.

Toward that end, I’m following the wisdom offered in the visual below to take stock of what now makes my life amazing, and then clearing out anything that prevents more amazing things to show up. I invite you to do the same!
How amazing life is

THE “ENERGY SOUP” REPORT

Since we’re inextricably interconnected to each other, to our planet, and to our universe, here are some of the energies we’re all swimming in together right now:

NEW Moon - Friday, May 6th 12:29 PM [Pacific Daylight Time]  ~ New Moon is an optimal time to reflect on where we are and where we want to focus our attention and energies next.

The Power Path ~ An earthy, robust day for having great gratitude for what is different and moving in your life. Celebrate your gifts and be inspired by what you can taste, feel and exchange with others. This is a good day to put your hands into the earth and do some planting either physically or symbolically. Bury the past and face the future with your own values, your own intuition, and your own trust. Ask for our great ally, Mother Earth, to nurture those seeds and help you and your new intentions to grow into the most beautiful blooms.

Stephanie Austin, EcoAstrology ~ This is the third of three Super New Moons in a row, where both solar and lunar gravitational pulls on the Earth are intensified, increasing emotional ebbs and flows in our consciousness as well. We’re now halfway between the spring equinox and summer solstice, long celebrated as Beltane and May Day, ancient festivals of fertility and abundance. What do we need, not only to survive, but to thrive? What makes our soul sing and dance? This new moon at 17º Taurus informs us that those answers are best found by listening to our body and our heart. Use the power of this new moon to clarify and commit to what matters most to you.

Madeline Gerwick, Business Astrologer, Polaris Business Guides ~ This is the time to rethink and redo, fix things, clean out those closets, garages, and storage units. Do some Spring cleaning! If you’re feeling frustrated, angry, or resentful it’s time to tell the truth. That stuff cannot remain under the rug any longer. Find your courage…to have that conversation. Not doing so will hold you back.

Cosmic*Intelligence*Agency ~ This New Moon in Taurus is a great time to get grounded in the Earth and in our bodies and to work steadfastly on the foundations of our new life. You can feel the full power of ‘the Bull’ in this Taurean New Moon, with the New Moon making a ‘Grand (Earth) Trine’ out to Retrograde Pluto and (Stationary) Retrograde Jupiter. There is so much raw and vital earth power in this grand trine for work, for building and for growing.

May 2-May 29 is the “Galactic Moon [Month] of Liberation” according to the Galactic Calendar - its energies are dissolve-release-liberation; its Totem Animal is Serpent. “I vow to let go of all worries and anxiety in order to be light and free…Freedom is not given to us by anyone; we have to cultivate it ourselves. It’s a daily practice.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

May Theme - TRUST - The Power Path - Lena & Jose Stevens - We have survived the energies of April (some of us barely) and are now facing a new game, a new dream, new possibilities, a new sense of self and a lot of unknown. Just as powerfully as April shook things up, May provides us with a potent opportunity for changing our game and moving into that new dream we all so desperately want. For some of us it will require a leap of faith and for some simply a willingness to allow new things into our lives in a new way. [Read more…]

Are we living our life purpose? Are we walking our talk? Where do we need to take a leap of faith?

Mercury Retrograde - Apr 28 - May 22 2016 - Stephanie Austin, EcoAstrology - While retrograde in Taurus, Mercury nudges us to rethink and reorder our priorities. Where do we need to slow down? What would make us happier? Less can be more—less upkeep, less stress, more time and space to do what we love.

Saturn-Neptune Squares –  Jun 17 2016; and Sep 10 2016 - Stephanie Austin, EcoAstrology - This Saturn–Neptune square is part of a larger synodic cycle of 36 years. Happiness May Be a Choice – Wh-a-a-a-t?!?

Adventures in Awareness  Issue #5 - 2016

Be happy with what you have. Be excited about what you want.” - Alan Cohen, American author of inspirational books, including The Dragon Doesn’t Live Here Any More (5 Oct 1954-  )

What I’m noticing is that many of my clients and friends are grappling with being unsettled with ‘happiness’ in some way or another: seeking it, or missing it, or experiencing new levels of it. While I’ve certainly ‘been there, done that’ across the span of my life, I’m having a different experience these days. Where in the past I would have been unhappy about something or someone for hours or even days, now I more often find the humor, the compassion and the letting go happens for me in seconds or minutes instead. My happiness restored, I then move ahead on the adventure that is life, with its ups, downs, and everything in between.

Within the circle of my closest ‘peeps’ who are in various stages of exploring ‘happiness’, I’m finding my thoughts are meandering purposely to identify what I want to create next in my life. Rather than going about it as I have in the past, I’m intentionally drifting, following my whims to see where it takes me, and what feels right. As I do so, I’m experiencing a deeper sense of peace than ever before and my work and play intersects seamlessly throughout my days. It appears that I’m choosing happiness as my usual state of being, and I’m loving the feeling!

As we enter New Moon and Mars Retrograde [coming up in June - see sidebar of Ongoing Energy Soup], and in service to your exploration of the concept that happiness may be a choice, I include an article and a brief video that have added to my reflections. I offer these with the intention to stimulate your thinking, your heart, and your imagination; please remember to take from them only that which resonates with you and let go of the rest.

Since my return from Sedona I’ve been in a silent space, taking advantage of this ‘down time’ for further reflection. I find it so apropos that as our upcoming New Moon reflective time quickly approaches, The Power Path’s Lena & Jose identify this month’s energies as UNSETTLED [see Energy Soup report]. I’ve also been paying attention to what’s showing up on my ‘radar screen’ in this space of quiet unsettlement [am I coining a new word here?].

THE “ENERGY SOUP” REPORT: Since we’re inextricably interconnected to each other, our planet, and our universe, here are some of the energies we’re all swimming in together right now:

New Moon - Apr 7th 4:25 AM [Pacific Time]  ~ remember that New Moons are optimal times to reflect on where you are and what you want to create from here.

The Power Path ~ This [New Moon] is a good time to launch just about anything as the energy of this moon is one with a great deal of power. Watch the aggression. If it comes from another, do not take it personally.  Things could be a bit unstable and unsettled today so take some time to ground and center yourselves as well as to set some clear intentions. Whatever you put fuel into during this new moon time with take hold, grab some aggressive momentum, and unfold over the next weeks, months and even years. So be clear that what you are fueling is for you and not for someone else.

Stephanie Austin, EcoAstrology ~ While all new moons are optimal times to set new intentions and begin new projects, this one is extra charged, as it occurs in the first sign of the zodiac [Aries], conjuncts Uranus and Eris, squares Pluto, and is a SuperMoon as well. This potent combination signals that we are ready for a major change in at least one area of our life, which will test our convictions and courage to embody what is true for us now…Aries represents the starting point of a new journey, an initiation to the next level. We are going beyond what’s familiar, comfortable, or customary. We are trailblazing, discovering new pathways and possibilities as we go. This takes courage, which is an essential quality for Aries and its ruler, Mars, to develop. It has been said that courage is not the absence of fear, but the ability to act in spite of it. It’s natural to have trepidation when faced with the unknown. It’s difficult to go against our many years of programming and listen to our inner guidance rather than conventional wisdom. We have to take a leap of faith and remember that, ultimately, life is about experience, and that there is no failure — only consciousness exploring ever-expanding frontiers of creation…Adding even more celestial support for a big change, this is the second of six SuperMoons this year, where the Moon is both at perigee (its nearest approach to the Earth) and at syzygy (aligned as a New or Full Moon), intensifying lunar gravitational forces, which tug on tidal levels, tectonic plates, and our psyches as well. These are amazing and demanding times, requiring that we take extra good care of ourselves on all levels. Monitor your intentions and motivations. Are you choosing from love or fear? Keep checking the truth meter located in the center of your chest. Know that you are making a difference, that each kind thought, word, and deed tips the evolutionary scales.

Madeline Gerwick, Business Astrologer, Polaris Business Guides ~ [New Moon info not yet received at publication]

Cosmic*Intelligence*Agency ~ With the New Moon touching in on Uranus in Aries we are called to come home to our truth-  that which resides in our hearts and be the unique and authentic expression of that…Throughout this time, we have been called to break from previous forms and most importantly, previous conditions and conditioning. We have been challenged to the core, quite often feeling like we have been crushed, crucified and cracked wide open, till there were no conditions left except our deepest spiritual longing…especially when we thought we were alone, we have become more aware of ourselves, others, all living beings and cosmic consciousness. We have learned to empower ourselves through the feminine; learning to flow, trust, surrender and ‘let go’. Many times we have been called to take ‘leaps of faith’, each time breaking new ground on living more authentically. We have survived and hopefully thrived throughout many years of pressure to go even deeper into our essential nature and channel that light into the world.  At this New Moon don’t be surprised by who you are or who you are becoming, we are changing and with it the world is changing too!

Apr 4-May 1 is the “Galactic Moon [Month] of Manifestation” according to the Galactic Calendar - its energies are perfect-produce-manifest; its Totem Animal is Dog. “If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is ‘thank you’, it will be enough.” ~ Meister Eckhart

April Theme - UNSETTLED - The Power Path - Lena & Jose Stevens - This month we are acutely aware that we are in transition. We have mental anxiety about what we might be forgetting or not keeping track of or not keeping up with. Our sleep is interrupted and light at best and non-existent at worst. We feel we might be missing something. It is hard to settle down and easy to get distracted. Even if we manage to cross everything off our to do list, there is a nagging feeling that something has been left undone.

This is the current state of affairs, necessary for change and evolution but extremely uncomfortable for many, especially for those with the “need to know” and a need for security. The Spring Equinox and the eclipses of March have left us in an unsettled place of asking, “what happens next?” We know it is not business as usual but we also cannot see around the bend or trust that what is showing up today will be the same as what shows up tomorrow. Making Time

Adventures in Awareness  Issue #4 - 2016

“Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.” - Carl Sandburg, American poet, writer, and editor who won three Pulitzer Prizes.  (6 January 1878-22 July 1967)

Making Time

Flowing Into Introspection

My professional and personal development journey took me to magical Sedona (Arizona) last week, where I participated in the first of three modules about Human Consciousness Architecture. I’ve deliberately created ‘white space’ in my calendar this week to reflect on and integrate what I learned there. I’m also contemplating what I experienced about myself as I explored these new perspectives. New pathways are opening for increased self-awareness and effectiveness in human interactions, and I’m excited about weaving them into my coaching and personal relationships.

By Carl Sandburg’s quote in the sidebar, I’m choosing to invest my time in this integration process, making my message this time purposely brief.

THE ENERGY SOUP REPORT:

Since we’re all inextricably interconnected to each other, our planet, and our universe, here are some of the energies we’re all swimming in together right now:

Full Moon - Feb 22nd 10:21 AM [Pacific Time]  ~ All full moons shed light on what has been in the shadows, and challenge us to integrate two seemingly opposite energies and areas of life and also illuminate the truth, including the consequences of our choices.

The Power Path ~ This full moon provides an opportunity to be proud of your accomplishments and your disciplined commitments. If you are faced with situations that test your choices, remember to be true to yourself and to put your own self-care first. Beware of the temptation to hold on to something that is not right just because you have put a lot of energy and time and possibly even money into it. The freedom you will have in letting go and the energy you will have to put into a new choice and commitment will far outweigh any past investment. This full moon may also bring something unexpected. You can be proactive with the unexpected by expecting the unexpected to be supportive, inspiring, exciting and new.

Stephanie Austin, EcoAstology ~ The next full moon, which peaks on Monday, February 22 at 10:20 AM PST in Virgo–Pisces illuminates where we need to balance intellect with intuition, effort with surrender, and judgment with compassion.

Madeline Gerwick, Business Astrologer, Polaris Business Guides ~What’s coming to light and being seen at the Full Moon on February 22nd appears to be a new vision from our leaders. Yes there are some challenges with the new vision, but they appear to be minor to our leaders. On the other hand, the public sees only entrenched challenges that continue to persist without resolution. (Too much government debt?) No doubt some think it’s time for revolution! This new vision though does have some merit so at least give some consideration to the ideas presented by your boss, political leaders, etc. Some of these new visions may relate to areas such as foreign policies, education, health care, religion, or international travel / immigration. This cycle (Sun conjunct Neptune) is just coming into range at the Full Moon and it will peak on February 28th. It stays in range through March 6th. This can also be a good time to have photos taken or upgrade your images on your web site. It can also be a good time to create or redo your logo. The good news with this Full Moon is that there’s energy afoot for practical, high-growth possibilities (Jupiter trine Pluto) that could yield big dollars. The bad news is that the economy is moving into a period when growth is slower, maybe even no growth, until we get to July (Jupiter square Saturn).

Cosmic*Intelligence*Agency ~ Full Moon of VIRGO, the 6th zodiac sign, and second mutable sign of the Virgin Earth Goddess signifies a time to account for many things. A time to analyze what we have harvested on all levels; practical, mental, emotional and spiritual. We are completing emotional lessons in being of service, our work and in honoring our bodies. This is a time to take inventory and critically analyze what nourishes us literally and in our local environment and communities. Virgo lunar energy brings a very grounded mood which is great to clean up your act with.

Feb 7-Mar 6 is the “Galactic Moon [Month] of Integrity” according to the Galactic Calendar –   its energies are harmonize-model-integrity; its Totem Animal is Hawk. “We manifest together the Universal Soul. Yet each on is a Universe, a holographic whole…The world comes to meet you when you’re living in your heart. Together with our planet, let’s create a work of art.” ~ Galactic Sun

February Theme - COMMITTED CHOICE

The Power Path - Lena & Jose Stevens:  January’s theme of RESET brought with it numerous opportunities for change and change often brings choices and decisions. Some choices and decisions are generated by your own chosen resets and some are a result of a reset you may have experienced from the outside.
As we enter February we encounter good influences that will take your choices and decisions and feed them with some momentum allowing for action, manifestation and flow. There are two elements that are necessary for this to happen: Commitment and discipline. Commitment to the choices and decisions you have made will ensure that you get the most out of them. It is a message to spirit that you are truly serious about what you have chosen and intended, what you desire and wish for…[Read more…]

Ongoing ENERGY SOUP:

Mercury Retrograde - Jan 5- 25 2016 - Mercury rules all types of communication, including listening, speaking, learning, reading, editing, researching, negotiating, selling, and buying. Mercury also rules all formal contracts and agreements, as well as important documents such as book manuscripts or term papers, agreements, deeds, contracts, leases, wills, and so forth…When a planet retrogrades, astrologically it is in a resting or sleeping state. Therefore, while Mercury naps, the activities that it governs don’t have the benefit of a well-functioning, wide-awake planet to supervise them. Expect a certain degree of pandemonium to ensue! This is a time to check and double-check anything related to communications.

Mercury Retrograde - Jan 5- 25 with continuing effects though Feb 8th  –  Stephanie Austin, EcoAstrology - This Saturn–Neptune square is part of a larger synodic cycle of 36 years.

Some ways to work with this ongoing Saturn-Neptune square:

Speak Up or Shut Down

Adventures in Awareness  Issue #3 - 2016

“How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.” - Dr. Dwayne Dyer, American self-help author & motivational speaker (10 May 1940-29 Aug 2015)

Speak Up or Shut Down

Becoming More Mindful in Challenging Conversations and Situations

In many of my conversations over the last several weeks I’ve noticed what seems to be a trend that has piqued my curiosity and reminded me of those times when I’ve chosen to either shut down or speak up during an awkward conversation with someone. Since February’s theme is “Committed Choice” [please see ‘Energy Soup’ below], it seems to offer an opportunity for engaging in conversations more mindfully than ever before. And Wayne Dyer’s quote in the sidebar hints at the soul-level opportunity of engaging with others from a different and more mindful perspective, recognizing that how we react is a ‘choice,’ made either consciously or unconsciously.

A couple of my coaching clients are currently navigating the waters toward their next ‘committed choice’ regarding fundamental relationships that they’ve recently recognized as being emotionally challenging to the point of being untenable. They’re seeking a balance between their values of trust, integrity and self-care; they’re examining their fears about how others will perceive them if they make different choices; and, most importantly, they’re calling forth their courage in speaking their truth in ways that are respectful and yet set clear boundaries. Their first step has been to name the situation as it is rather than making excuses for the other person’s behaviors, and to face their fears about the possible outcome of speaking their truth within these relationships. In other words, they’re making a ‘committed choice’ to change their reactive behaviors and break habits that are not effective, in service to their own and the other person’s well-being.

For the second time in two months, my beloved husband HK popped his artificial hip joint out of its socket, and as you might imagine, this is excruciatingly painful! As we waited for the doctor in the Emergency Room, there were tears in HK’s eyes and his chin was trembling. I squeezed his hand and asked what was going on, and when he had gained control of his voice, said he felt ‘guilty’ that he had re-injured himself and feared that I and others would see him as ‘weak’ or ‘not manly’ because of it. My heart broke for this incredible man who is consistently a ‘rock’ for me and others, and couldn’t help but feel profoundly sad about the accepted societal expectation of ‘manhood’ he was expressing. I recognized that he was having a challenging conversation with himself because he felt he had to live up to that expectation.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how we humans can purposely and mindfully communicate the impact that another person’s behaviors or even an outmoded societal expectation is having on us. I’ve wondered how we support the possibility of re-creating a conversation, relationship or a societal expectation that’s proven itself less than respectful to self or others or both. If we can’t effectively communicate to another person how their behavior is impacting us, choosing to shut down instead of speak up, we’ll continue down our current path of disconnection. We’ll continue creating more distance between us when our hearts and souls long more than ever to accept and feel accepted in our families, workplaces, communities, and the world.

I know for me, it’s an ongoing exploration and practice cycle of trying various approaches to speaking up in those situations where typically I’d shut down instead. Sometimes it occurs fairly elegantly, and goes well; at other times, it is messy and uncomfortable. No matter how it plays out, I always learn from it upon reflection and find it is easier and more natural to speak up at the moment with confidence that it ultimately serves the relationship.

CONTINUING THIS ADVENTURE INTO AWARENESS
How do we each ‘speak up’ without feeling we’ve diminished or disrespected ourselves or the other person in our conversations?

I invite you to consider this question along with me and, as you do, notice what new awareness emerges from within you. And please remember to have FUN on that awareness adventure into the question, okay?

Happy exploring!

THE ENERGY SOUP REPORT:

Since we’re all inextricably interconnected to each other, our planet, and our universe, here are some of the energies we’re all swimming in together right now:

New Moon – Feb 8th 6:40 AM [Pacific Time] ~ remember that New Moons are times to determine what intentions you want to set in motion next for yourself.

The Power Path ~ The time around this New Moon can be testy, especially around unexpected events and changes you did not plan on. This is also the beginning of the Chinese New Year and we are entering the year of the fire monkey. The monkey is one of the allies for the year and can be helpful if used well. Make sure to honor this New Moon with a commitment to your intentions by making an action plan of disciplines that will support your choices.

Madeline Gerwick, Business Astrologer, Polaris Business Guides ~As we start February, we’re in the midst of the big financial challenges (Venus conjunct Pluto and square Uranus). Just wait until after the New Moon, either February 9th or 10th, for your major new starts. By then we’ll be in a great cycle for bringing in a LOT of money! On Monday, February 8th, a cycle comes in range that’s associated with taking fortunate actions (Mars sextile Jupiter). Typically opportunities will present themselves and you have the option to take action on them or not. No one will force you to take action. You just have the opportunity to take fortunate actions that can assist you. This cycle peaks on February 13th and stays in range through February 18th. There are LOTS of good energies synched up on February 10th. Plan to make good use of it!

Cosmic*Intelligence*Agency ~ Life feels faster than a speeding bullet these days. Thousands of thoughts pass through you on a daily basis, most of which are scattered, undifferentiated and noisy. Distraction and the concentration of a goldfish could be blamed on technology or the stars, after all we are living through a Tempest of Transition, but perhaps it has more to do with having too much on or too many things to prioritise? As you stack, living within this phenomenally paced, multi-tasking world, your mind remains active all day long, exposing your heart to images of a world lost and struggling to remember its humanity. Without time to breath in, all the unattended stress draws out your vital force and weariness invades your spirit, and gravity drags down every bone. Use the energy of this New Moon in Aquarius to slow down, reflect, and then move more purposely.

Dec 13-Jan 9 is the “Rhythmic Moon [Month] of Equality” according to the Galactic Calendar -  its energies are Organize-Balance-Equality; its Totem Animal is Lizard. “This is the time of the purifying. Let’s not forget why we are here. This is the moment of realignment. For all who look this is very clear…” ~ Narayan

Feb 7-Mar 6 is the “Galactic Moon [Month] of Integrity”

according to the Galactic Calendar - its energies are harmonize-model-integrity; its Totem Animal is Hawk. “We manifest together the Universal Soul. Milestones

Adventures in Awareness  Issue #2 - 2016

“A life of ‘enough’ is born in every moment - in the way we listen, the way we respond to the world, the way we see what is, and tell the truth of who we are. Every single choice, every single moment, every change of course can bring us closer to a life of peace, contentment, authenticity, and easy sufficiency, a life of being, having, and doing enough.” - Wayne Muller, executive leadership mentor and author (b. 1953)

Milestones

Reflections on living ‘a life of being, doing & having enough’

Over the past two months, I’ve marked two major milestones in my life: finishing my 18-year tenure on faculty with inviteCHANGE, an ICF-accredited coach-training program, and entering my 65th year. As a result of these events, I’ve been immersed in reflections about my life, my work, and my future.

My colleagues at inviteCHANGE created a moving completion party to acknowledge and celebrate our teamwork together over the years. In forming a constellation timeline with all of us, we lined up in order of when we joined the organization, beginning with me in 1997 and ending with the newest team member. One of my colleagues pointed out that this line represents the lineage of my contributions to the world of professional coaching, and that it doesn’t stop with the newest team member but continues ad infinitum for all who follow. That realization took my breath away in its enormity, and as each person shared what they appreciated most about my interactions with them, my heart flowed with gratitude and appreciation for the opportunities I’ve had to serve in those ways. They created a video montage containing pictures from the classroom and graduation events over the years, as well as notes and videos received from students and past faculty members. What a powerful experience it was to watch it within the warm bosom of my ‘professional family’ and now to be able to revisit it periodically as a reminder of how much love and respect I share with each of them.

My 65th birthday celebrations have been many and varied, and will continue to unfold through the end of the month – I typically enjoy January as my ‘birthday month’ rather than simply one day of the month. The multitude of loving cards and messages I’ve received have again reminded me that even the smallest of acts of kindness, sharing, and caring has a remarkable and lasting impact. As a result, rather than feeling ‘old’ or ‘older,’ this milestone birthday illuminates for me how truly blessed I am to have such a significant ‘global family’ of friends, colleagues and family members with whom I continue to play, learn, and grow.

The reciprocity of contribution between all of these people and me is what I’m now defining as  ‘living a life of being, doing, and having enough’ [see the quote in sidebar]. I don’t need to be anyone other than who I am to have a wealth of loving relationships.  I don’t need to have loads of money; I always have what is needed when I need it, which is always more than enough. And I don’t need to do anything I don’t enjoy to ‘do enough’; my work and how I live creates joy and possibility in my life, making my life a ripple of the same to others.

I have a feeling that these realizations and others will continue to validate my ‘enough-ness’ throughout this milestone year and on into the future, for which I am quite grateful!

CONTINUING THIS ADVENTURE INTO AWARENESS
In what ways are you living ‘a life of being, doing and having enough’? What needs to shift within you to experience it more often?

I invite you to consider these questions and, as you do, notice what new awareness emerges from within you. And please remember to have FUN on that awareness adventure into the question, okay?

THE ENERGY SOUP REPORT:

Since we’re all inextricably interconnected to each other, our planet, and our universe, here are some of the energies we’re all swimming in together right now:

Full Moon - Jan 23rd 5:47 PM [Pacific Time]  ~ remember that Full Moons are times to review your intentions and assess their progress, making adjustments to make them more useful.

The Power Path ~ This is a moon that supports personal expression and an experience of personal power. Acknowledge what you have accomplished this month in terms of RESET and celebrate your own your talents, unique capabilities and personal power. If you feel overwhelmed about what is coming into your life, take a deep breath, ask for clarity, and be willing to allow that which does not serve you to be gone, making room for what wants to manifest.

Stephanie Austin, EcoAstology ~ The next full moon peaks on Saturday January 23 at 3º Leo-Aquarius. Leo is the sign of the individual; Aquarius, the sign of humanity. We’re in the dawn of the Age of Aquarius, which calls each person to share their unique gifts.

Madeline Gerwick, Business Astrologer, Polaris Business Guides ~ This is a reminder that we’re in a period of time now when driving can be dangerous [through Feb 8th]. Don’t talk on your cell phones while you’re driving now. To do so is to play a game of deadly roulette. Pay extra attention to what’s going on when you drive now. You may encounter unexpected and very dangerous conditions,  (Mercury conjunct Pluto and both square Uranus), which could need split second reactions to keep you safe. So be extra alert out there.

Cosmic*Intelligence*Agency ~ Full Moons in Leo invite us to integrate our need to develop our individual self, with our desire to participate in the evolution of the collective, regardless of individual needs. This mirrors our life long pull and push between our need to shine as an individual (Leo) and our awareness that in order to observe and change the greater pattern of humanity (Aquarius), we need to remain a somewhat anonymous, detached outsider. The Sun, which is the ruler of Leo, holds the key to integrating these two polarities at this time. Through forming a solid sense of Self in the process of individuation, we become our own authority, with less concern for the opinions of others, including our family and tribe. Fiery Leo also rules the heart, reminding us that the more we center ourselves in our heart, the more we can contribute constructively to the Aquarian evolution of humanity. Once we inhabit love we are no longer attached to a need to be special and all our actions become an extension of love.

Jan 10-Feb 6 is the “Resonant Moon [Month] of Attunement” according to the Galactic Calendar - its energies are Channel-Inspire-Attunement; its Totem Animal is Monkey. “The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” ~ WB Yates

January Theme - “Reset”

The Power Path - Lena & Jose Stevens:  We have been through a time of transition, change, scatter, chaos, and unexpected challenges as well as powerful opportunities for creativity, improvement and personal growth. The general influences of this year will continue to support our evolution enabling us to shift our experience of life to a different energetic platform, one of a higher vibration and expression of essence.

Ongoing ENERGY SOUP:

Mercury Retrograde - Jan 5- 25 2016 - Mercury rules all types of communication, including listening, speaking, learning, reading, editing, researching, negotiating, selling, and buying. Possibility

Adventures in Awareness  Issue #1 - 2016

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” - Mary Oliver, Pulitzer-winning American poet (10 Sep 1935-  )

Possibility

A New Year, A Fresh Perspective

Poet Mary Oliver’s words have been on my mind and heart for the last several weeks, especially with the start of a new year: “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

As I’m contemplating what I want to bring forward in my work and life this year, I am experiencing a paradox within myself. On the one hand, I notice I have a lot of energy running throughout my being, like a horse chomping at the bit as it awaits the starting bell so that the race can begin. Running concurrently with those feelings is what I can only refer to as ‘lack of ambition’; I have all this energy at my disposal, yet at the same time I have no apparent horizon in sight. Such an unusual juxtaposition and, at times, a dilemma to say the least.

My responses to this paradox range from fearing that I’ve lost my zest for life and work to having complete faith that my horizon will reveal itself when the timing is right. The latter is where I land most often and, as a result, I’m developing a greater capacity for patience with myself and with my creative process.

I know without a doubt that my fear is completely ‘False Evidence Appearing Real’ because my engagement with my family, clients, and friends is consistently joyous and more frequent than ever.  Intuitively it feels as though I’m learning to trust myself at a deeper level than ever before and to relax more consistently into the space of not yet knowing what’s ahead. I’m excited and intrigued by the possibilities!

For this New Moon, I plan to do a ritual or ceremony to ‘reset’ myself in whatever way will align more fully with my life’s purpose “to inspire values-driven life balance, ignite passion, and spark aliveness so that all can thrive in a fully lived life”. In the centered quiet on the other side of this, I plan to listen to my heart for whatever words, images, ideas, etc. may be presenting themselves for consideration. And from there I plan to ‘test drive’ whatever emerges to see where it leads me. Wow, talk about an adventure; I sense it’s going to be a tasty experience of utmost possibility.

I leave you with this quote from Eleanor Roosevelt: “The purpose of life…is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

CONTINUING THIS ADVENTURE INTO AWARENESS
In what ways will you ‘taste experience to the utmost’ during 2016?

I invite you to consider this question and, as you do, notice what new awareness emerges from within you. And please remember to have FUN on that awareness adventure into the question, okay?

THE ENERGY SOUP REPORT:

Since we’re all inextricably interconnected to each other, our planet, and our universe, here are some of the energies we’re all swimming in together right now:

New Moon - Nov 11th 9:47 AM [Pacific Time]  ~ Jan 9th 5:32 PM [Pacific Time]  ~ remember that New Moons are times to determine what intentions you want to set in motion next for yourself.

The Power Path ~ An excellent time to focus on RESET. If you have not already done so, this is also a good time to focus on your intentions for the year or revisit the ones you anchored over the New Year for refinements and changes. You may be surprised at how quickly some of them may manifest if you are really clear about what you want and it comes from essence and your heart. Due to the influences right at this time, you may feel some energy around intention at a standstill. It is simply at a still point gathering power from love, beauty, essence connection, community, prayer, joy, gratitude and awe. You can always help it along by feeding it this positive fuel.

Madeline Gerwick, Business Astrologer, Polaris Business Guides ~ Most of this month is for catching up, rethinking, finding our mistakes, redoing, re-planning, repairing, reviewing, etc.
Cosmic*Intelligence*Agency ~ The Capricorn new moon is the first new moon of the year. This is a great time to take responsibility of creating and designing your life. This new moon window is good for creating new structures, organizations and systems designed to last and support the generations to come. Create a plan, write out your goals and work with empowerment in a structured way. Set intentions for the coming year and activate it in a ceremony.

Saturn-Neptune Squares –  Jun 17 2016; and Sep 10 2016 - Stephanie Austin, EcoAstrology - This Saturn–Neptune square is part of a larger synodic cycle of 36 years.

Some ways to work with this ongoing Saturn-Neptune square:

Gratitude – A Life-Affirming Act of Hope and Possibility

Adventures in Awareness  Issue #18

“A great deal of the chaos in the world occurs because people don’t appreciate themselves.” - Chogyam Trungpa, Buddhist meditation master (28 Feb 1939-4 Apr 1987

Gratitude

A Life-Affirming Act of Hope and Possibility

As American Thanksgiving approaches and in light of recent events in Paris and Beirut, I am in a reflective mood. As I speak with others, I find they are also in this reflective place and contemplating what can be done individually and collectively to alleviate these horrific acts among us.

As I continue to send prayers to those souls directly impacted, my response to the violence is to envision our world as described so eloquently and movingly by the words of John Lennon’s “Imagine”: …Nothing to kill or die for…Imagine no possessions - I wonder if you can - No need for greed or hunger - A brotherhood of man - Imagine all the people - Sharing all the world…You may say I’m a Dreamer - But I’m not the only one.

In the midst of the violence and carnage over this last decade, there are myriad stories of individual and collective acts of bravery, heroism, kindness and compassion that come to light as a result of these events. As odd as this may sound, I found myself being grateful, not for the violence that is happening of course, but that these acts are causing us to examine our human values, our societal and government systems, and how we can close our hearts by focusing on our differences rather than our similarities.

Humanity now has multiple opportunities to join our spirits and our voices to have heart-connected conversations that allow us to resolve our issues without violence or hatred. In my view, this confluence of events are catalysts for change directly related to the “Pressure” theme described for this month (see Energy Soup Report below).

My service mission as a professional coach is to ‘give my clients back to themselves’ by supporting them to rediscover their soul’s Essence and life purpose, and to live from the wisdom of their hearts. I am grateful to have my work, and my soul’s mission merge to create joy in doing my job every day. I rejoice in the knowledge that each of my clients is impacting many, many others within their spheres of influence, creating a ripple effect by living this heart alignment day by day. My hope is that as this happens, those heart-connected conversations will bathe our world in hope and new possibilities, creating peaceful resolutions to conflict, injustice, and inequality.

In the end, what I’m grateful for are hope and possibility, and the knowledge that I can contribute to both every day by being the change I want to see in our world, and catalyzing my clients to make their unique contributions to building a more harmonious world.

CONTINUING THIS ADVENTURE INTO AWARENESS

What are you grateful for?
What are your hopes and visions of possibilities for a more harmonious world?

I invite you to consider these questions and, as you do, notice what new awareness emerges from within you. And please remember to have FUN on that awareness adventure into the question, okay?

THE ENERGY SOUP REPORT:

Since we’re all inextricably interconnected to each other, our planet, and our universe, here are some of the energies we’re all swimming in together right now:

New Moon - Nov 11th 9:47 AM [Pacific Time]  ~ remember that New Moons are times to go within and examine what we desire to create or bring forth next.

The Power Path ~This is a time for quiet celebration, acceptance of change, and making choices. If you have been ambivalent or in resistance around certain issues that require a choice, this would be a good time to finally make that choice. If you have been afraid to step out of your limited container, and you feel the pressure to do so, now would be a good time to at least make a choice and commitment to doing so.  This Full Moon comes with an energy that is inspirational for moving ahead, completing tasks and releasing old attachments. Even if you just take a few minutes and clean out a cabinet or drawer, it will make you feel like there is movement in your life.  Being around beauty will give your day a higher centered quality and as we North Americans are getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving, a good dose of gratitude will help balance the negativity, pressure and confusion you may have been feeling of late. This is a good time for gathering support around a project or idea whose time has come.

Stephanie Austin, EcoAstology ~ The next full moon, which peaks at 3º Gemini-Sagittarius, shines a bright light on the relationship between our beliefs, dreams, and life. What were we born for? What do we live by? What guides the choices we make each day?…challenges us to manifest from our essence rather than our ego, and to follow our intuition and inner guidance rather than external authority and convention. As we engage more with nature, meditation, and the wisdom of our heart, we see through the fears and beliefs that block us from embodying our truth.

Madeline Gerwick, Business Astrologer, Polaris Business Guides ~ BWhat’s coming to light at the Full Moon on November 25th are leaders and the public who are weighed down by responsibilities and lack of a clear vision on how to handle them. Structures that have been deteriorating for years are finally dissolving, like an old pier that breaks free after years of decay and floats out to sea.

Cosmic*Intelligence*Agency ~ When Full Moons occur in Air signs, the opposing Sun in Fire invites us to initially experience our feelings through the filter of our mind, rather than through our body and emotions. This is particularly the case for this Full Moon in Gemini as Mercury the ruler of Gemini, is opposite the Moon and conjunct the Sun, together with Saturn in Sagittarius.  The twin sign of Gemini rules communication, networking, friendships, bridges, travel, crossroads, translation, siblings, business deals and neighbors. However, unlike our body and emotions which cannot distort what we are feeling, our mind, like Hermes, can easily play tricks! In fact, with so many planetary aspects to this Full Moon, we may feel like we are in a hall of magic mirrors, where we get a different reflection back depending on where we look! For example, the opposing Stellium in Sagittarius requests us to tell the truth in our words and actions. However, as Saturn is part of the Stellium, there can be a dogmatic quality to the truth we are seeking, which may be in part be fueled by fear. The fear is mostly of ‘getting it wrong’ and being ‘scapegoated’– whether it be re what we think, what we say or how we say it or don’t say it! The Trine from Mars in Libra to the Full Moon somewhat adds to the vacillation, as well as potentially offering some balance in the mix.

Nov 15-Dec 12 is the “Overtone Moon [Month] of Radiance” according to the Galactic Calendar - its energies are Empower - Command - Radiance, and its Totem Animal is Peacock: “There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and there is only one of you in all time.” ~ Martha Graham, Choreographer

November Theme - “Pressure”

The Power Path - Lena & Jose Stevens: This month we enter the labor that will birth our own transformation and change. And just as in actual childbirth, once the process begins, there is no going back. The pressure we feel is that of being in a container that has grown too small. It is time to face the unknown, our own fears and resistance, and move ourselves to the next level.
The pressure coming from inside is our own higher self, our essence, pushing us to be bigger, to be more, to disengage from the past, to move out of our shell, and to break through the barrier of small and diminished experience into the vast ocean of possibility. The pressure can feel like dissatisfaction, confusion, impatience and irritation. This is our own inner desire and intention for change that is prodding and poking us to get on with it. The path is not yet clear. This month it is enough to work with being ready by allowing what is holding us back to fall apart. The big work will be to allow the fear and anxiety to dissolve and to move into a place of trust. Remember that theme from September?

The pressure coming from the outside is coming from the environment itself, the environment being anything you come into contact with. It could include all the people and all the containers that you have been operating all of your projects, work and life out of. Your environment acts as a mirror and will put pressure on you based on what you said you wanted. There is a saying, be careful what you ask for. This is certainly true for this time frame as your intentions and desires will be magnified and expanded. It is as if everything has grabbed the energy of Jupiter and filled itself with hot air and helium. There is tremendous pressure that has built up that can be used to take the whole planet to the next level of functioning.

Ongoing “Energy Soup”:

Uranus Retrograde - Jul 26-Dec 25 2015 - Stephanie Austin, EcoAstrology - Uranus highlights where we need to break old patterns and make a radical shift; use its retrograde phase to explore alternatives. Where do you need to be more independent and innovative? Where do you need to take a leap of faith? Uranus reminds us that in order for things to change, we have to change.

Saturn-Neptune Squares - Nov 26 2015; Jun 17 2016; and, Sep 10 2016 Stephanie Austin, EcoAstrology - This Saturn–Neptune square is part of a larger synodic cycle of 36 years. Be Impeccable with Your Word – Unexpected Insights from Taking on One of the Four Agreements

Adventures in Awareness  Issue #17

“Speak in such a way that others love to listen to you. Listen in such a way that others love to speak to you.” - Unknown

Be Impeccable with Your Word
Unexpected Insights from Taking on One of the Four Agreements

Thanks for your patience as I’ve been ‘getting back in the groove’ after being away for 10 days in Brazil and on the heels of that, another 3 days in Portland Oregon USA.

My talks in Brazil went very well and were well received; many thanks to those of you who sent energy in support - I felt it and I’m grateful for it! I’m still marveling at how smoothly I stood before 200+ people on multiple occasions and spoke with passion and confidence. I connected with the audience participants easily and created trust & intimacy almost instantly - it felt like an intimate conversation rather than a speaking engagement…and it all felt so natural to me that I’m actually looking forward to doing more of it. Peace and freedom were my primary experiences, and joy was prevalent in all my activities - delicious!

Which brings me to my musing for this New Moon time. In preparing for having simultaneous translation done for me while I was in Brazil, I was mindfully weighing my words on my slides and in my notes to cue my verbal remarks. At the same time, I re-read “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz, and felt truly compelled to take on the agreement of “Be Impeccable with Your Word.”

This principle has guided me over the past several weeks, and the first thing I’ve noticed is that my speaking has slowed a bit, allowing for more thoughtful consideration of the words I want to offer. This pacing was useful for my translators because they told me that Portuguese takes about a quarter of the time longer to express something spoken in English :-).

I’ve also noticed that I’m speaking or writing using fewer words –  not consciously but naturally - almost like my thinking/speaking operating system has already been re-programmed with the onset of my commitment to being impeccable with my word. It showed up first in writing email responses and starting to write a typically used phrase like, “I enjoyed…”. As soon as I wrote it, my gut clenched a little, and I asked myself, “Is that true for me?”. When I realized it wasn’t true for me, I sought a more true expression and as I wrote that my gut was peaceful. What’s surprising me is how often those ‘make nice’ phrases flow out without thought or any real meaning.

My biggest victories to-date are:
[1] In having had a conversation with my bank about credit card snafus while I was away, I didn’t apologize for being unhappy about what happened. Also, I remained calmly clear about insisting they tell me what more I can do next time to prevent a repeat occurrence. I kept moving up the chain of command through three different people to obtain the information and outcome I desired. And as I realized I hadn’t uttered any ‘make nice’ apology for my requests, I felt freedom in a way I didn’t expect. I’m still marveling at that because I didn’t consciously decide not to apologize - wow!

[2] This past week it felt important to me to say ‘no’ to a former client’s request as she spoke about possibly re-engaging my services. As she finished making her request, I suddenly felt like I was standing in two buckets of quick-drying cement, and I found myself thinking aloud. I said, “I admit that I’m conflicted about your request, but I’m clear I can’t say ‘yes’ to it because it doesn’t feel right.” In the past I would have apologized as I was saying ‘no’, but I didn’t in this conversation because it would have been totally inauthentic. Regardless of the ultimate outcome, I’m at peace with having been impeccable with my word - freedom again.

To my delight, I’m enjoying discovering where I utter my words unconsciously. It’s exciting to discover what my signals are if I pay attention to them and allow them to warn me when I’m about to be cavalier with my words.

I’m curious how this will affect my relationships and conversations through the upcoming holiday season.

CONTINUING THIS ADVENTURE INTO AWARENESS

THE ENERGY SOUP REPORT:

Since we’re all inextricably interconnected to each other, our planet, and our universe, here are some of the energies we’re all swimming in together right now:

New Moon - Nov 11th 9:47 AM [Pacific Time]  ~ remember that New Moons are times to go within and examine what we desire to create or bring forth next.

The Power Path ~Watch for cranky irritation around any pressure you feel from others, yourself or your environment. Take a moment around this new moon for yourself and focus on something that needs completion. Cranky energy can always be transformed into a fiery inspiration that fuels action. Be physically active and do something physical that expands your space, clears something out and provides you with an opportunity to take action towards something you desire.
Stephanie Austin, EcoAstology ~ Every ending is also a beginning. Something is ready to die, and something is struggling to be born. Will we cling to the old, or turn toward the new? The next new moon reveals where we are shedding an old skin in order to grow, and how light, love, and truth always dispel the darkness…Harness the power of these [new moon energies] to explore your shadow and connect more deeply with your inner guidance.

Madeline Gerwick, Business Astrologer, Polaris Business Guides ~ Beginning November 8th, a series of cycles bring us the potential for penetrating insights, strong healing, and plenty of growth. These same cycles can be used by business to communicate with the masses or powerful people, teaching and creating opportunities for growth or abundance. These cycles (Mercury sextile Pluto, Sun trine Chiron, Mercury and the Sun both sextile Jupiter, Mercury trine Chiron) peak between November 9th – 13th. If you plan to teach workshops related to healing, health, hidden truths, or sacred work, this would be a good period to have them. In addition, this is a great time to start your promotions for the holidays, if you haven’t already done so. (Perhaps you started them in mid-to-late October?) If you have presentations you want to make to important prospects, this is also a great time to do that. Make good use of these dates! This New Moon is focused on starting a lot of healing and teaching (Sun and Moon trine Chiron, Saturn conjunct MC). There are also plenty of expansive ideas or promotions (Mercury sextile Jupiter) and the masses and/or powerful people are listening! There’s a great deal of potential getting started at this New Moon.
Cosmic*Intelligence*Agency ~ The New Moon is a time of new beginnings and fresh starts but alas this New Moon is in the sign of death, transformation and rebirth. What does that mean for us? Ideally this New Moon in Scorpio is a time to let go, shed, and relinquish in order to re-birth…This is ‘The Call to Health and Healing’ of ourselves, our society and our planet and to take back our power in this regard (Pluto trine Jupiter and square Uranus). There is so much power in this movement to…align our personal Hero’s/ Heroine’s Journey with the well-being of the planet.

Oct 18-Nov 14 is the “Self-Existing Moon [Month] of Form” according to the Galactic Calendar - its energies are Define-Measure-Form, its Totem Animal is Owl: “You are the Universe, expressing itself as a human for a little while.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

Connecting Dots – Noticing Changes Since the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse

Adventures in Awareness  Issue #16

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards. So, you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something: your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well-worn path.” - Steve Jobs, American businessman, founding CEO of Apple Computer (24 Feb 1955-5 Oct 2012)

Connecting Dots

Noticing Changes Since the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse

As I prepare to leave for 8 days in Brazil where I’ll be participating with coaches in two exciting events, I am still in the process of connecting dots from the powerful meditation I did at Full Moon. During that process I released all energies that no longer serve my path and purpose in this life, and invited the next levels of my being, my work, and my life to come forward.

Briefly, the dots I’m connecting so far are:

1) I have no energy or desire for drama or ranting - mine or someone else’s. This is excellent news for the interior cabin of my car in  traffic and for my body, mind and spirit!
2) If something I’m asked to do doesn’t generate a feeling of “YES!” immediately, I recognize it’s a “NO” or a “NOT NOW”, and I’m peaceful as I convey my responses. Now THAT’S what I call work/life balance!
3) I am much more mindful and purposeful about being in integrity with my word than ever before and it’s so freeing!

Wish me well as I fly off to this Brazilian adventure in coach training, public speaking and my first ever keynote gig - yahoo!

CONTINUING THIS ADVENTURE INTO AWARENESS

What are the dots I can connect now that will serve me in expanding my consciousness further?

I invite you to consider this question and, as you do, notice what new awareness emerges from within you. And please remember to have FUN on that awareness adventure into the question, okay?

Happy exploring!

THE ENERGY SOUP REPORT:

Since we’re all inextricably interconnected to each other, our planet, and our universe, here are some of the energies we’re all swimming in together right now:

New Moon - Oct 12th 5:06 PM [Pacific Daylight Time] ~ remember that New Moons are times to go within to connect the dots and examine what has come to light since Full Moon.

The Power Path ~ This new moon is supportive of bringing pieces together to make a whole. Like working on a puzzle where you don’t know where a piece fits until you try it, this is a time to see what pieces fit. If they don’t fit, they are excess. If they do, make a place for them so they can become part of the whole. This is also a way to observe your priorities. The pieces that fit nicely are the ones that will continue supporting you on your true path. The ones that do not fit are distractions, connected to something old and unimportant, or belong to someone else. Be patient right now as many things are still in process and there are many unfinished threads that may have you feeling unsettled.
Stephanie Austin, EcoAstology ~ The next new moon forms on Monday, October 12 at 5:06 PM PDT (19º Libra). Every 29.5 days, the Sun and Moon meet, opening a portal of new possibilities in the zodiacal sign of their conjunction. This new moon in Libra offers a more transcendent perspective of ourselves and others. It shows us that everyone is both a teacher and a student; we can learn from, and offer something to, everyone we meet. Not only are the Sun and Moon in Libra, but also the North Node, Mercury, and asteroid Juno, spotlighting where we are currently challenged to grow in balance and fairness, understanding and acceptance. Libra teaches that each relationship — indeed, the entire world — is a looking glass, reflecting evolving parts of ourselves back to us, so that we become more conscious, compassionate, and whole. What we can’t stand in someone else is always a shadow part of ourselves. Likewise, our ‘better half’ is inside us as well, often in a suppressed or undeveloped state. Love is ultimately an inside job, a state of being, a full reconciliation of masculine and feminine, outer and inner, mind and heart. The more we integrate conflicting aspects of ourselves, the more love, peace, and beauty we experience and radiate into the world.

Madeline Gerwick, Business Astrologer, Polaris Business Guides ~ This month we’re blessed with two weeks to make clear, logical decisions or plan important projects. These dates begin October 2nd and this cycle (Mercury sextile Saturn) stays in range through October 15th. This is excellent for getting a plan together for your fortunate actions. Make good use of this! This cycle peaks on October 6th and 13th. On October 9th, Mercury stops and turns around to move forward again. Notice that word “stops”. This means the planet in charge of movement and communications is NOT moving at all. It takes time for Mercury to get its momentum going enough to move forward again. Although things will start heading in the right direction on October 9th, don’t expect delays to end right away. It takes until October 16th for Mercury to start moving close to its normal speed. It takes until October 24th for Mercury to get into new territory. So you have until then to finish redoing your tasks.

Cosmic*Intelligence*Agency ~ To be temperate means that you honour and acknowledge your desires and passions but you do not constantly rearrange your life according to the ongoing flux of those highly charged states! Temperance does not restrain; it guides us to be peaceful with what is, to discern what we are called to improve or to overlook, to have serenity of spirit no matter what feelings are invoked about the situation we find ourselves in. It calls us to contemplation and then to action. Not action based on expectations of others, not perfect action as we see it, but doing what we can do, at the moment and in the circumstances.
To develop and sustain a spiritual focus in our lives, while living in our ever increasingly busy society, this is the challenge as busyness is forced upon us. But you are the one who decides how the expectations of the outside world manifest in your life. You are the one that can choose to centre yourself in the calm space between possibility and manifestation; between rest and action; between process and results.

Sep 20-Oct 17 is the “Electric Moon [Month] of Service” according to the Galactic Calendar - its energies are Activate-Bond-Service, its Totem Animal is Deer: “How you labor is your own choice, but you must always live with the thought: I have come to the earth to serve Life, to serve the grand scheme of the evolution of humankind.” ~ White Eagle

October Theme - “Balance”

The Power Path - Lena & Jose Stevens:

This month we are striving to balance our lives in a way that serves us better and brings all the bits and pieces we have been juggling into a new and more balanced configuration and alignment.

Our faith and trust (themes of September) have been tested, challenged, pushed, revealed, expanded and rewarded. And now it is time to give up the struggle and surrender ourselves to the more natural flow and balance that wants to emerge.

The most significant area of striving for balance is between “doing” and “being”. This month become aware of your tendency to infuse everything with “doing”. Even when you pray, contemplate, focus on intentions, or “do” a meditation, you are still in “doing” mode. Receptivity needs be 100 percent if you are going to receive. You can only fully receive while “being” 100 percent receptive.

This is especially true when working with unseen allies or spirit helpers. We tend to ask for help, for signs, for wisdom or information and then often we don’t allow enough time in receptive mode to actually receive what we are asking for.

The compulsive obsessive mind has a hard time letting go into receptivity. It wants to track everything, know everything, and put constant mental energy into our desires and intentions. This month we are being invited to stop the mind and experience more balance. So become aware of your “doings” and discipline yourselves to stop occasionally and drop into “being” mode. Become conscious of the transition between “doing” and “being” and back to “doing”.

A good practice this month is working with Gratitude and Desire, Gratitude as a “being”, and Desire or Intention as a “doing”.

Some things that may need more balance in your life: Note: this is a VERY partial list!

Time for self vs. for others
Love and attention, too much or too little
Spiritual life vs. external responsibilities
Work vs. rest
Energy levels, motivation, inspiration
Physical and mental clutter
Adventure and new experiences, too many or not enough
Relationships and connections vs. alone time
Heart vs. mind
Acceptance vs. persevering towards change
Past lessons and experiences vs. future desires and intentions
And last but not least, “BEING” vs. “DOING” which of course refers to the balance between the masculine and the feminine as well.
